Letter book containing manuscript copies of letters sent by Byron C. Leavitt, the majority of which relate to Leavitt's various interests in gold mines in Colorado and New Mexico, including the Gold King at Cripple Creek and the Rio Hondo Gold Placer Mining Co. Leavitt writes to Brown, a gold prospector in his employ, co-investors in mining interests Dr. H. S. Deaning of Boston and a Mr. Hoefler of Denver, and various potential investors. Letters to his family and friends in Boston and elsewhere in the East contain descriptions of his work as a physician, the building of a new house, and other activities of his wife Alice and himself.
